That spirit was once again on full display at Spa-Francorchamps, where drivers and paddock members gathered for the annual “Race for Anthoine” tribute, honoring the memory of the late Anthoine Hubert, who tragically lost his life in a Formula 2 accident at the iconic Belgian circuit in 2019.
As has become a cherished tradition, Pierre Gasly, one of Hubert’s closest friends, led the commemorative run around the track. The event brought together drivers from Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3, as well as team personnel, engineers, officials, and members of the wider motorsport family. Together, they completed a lap of the circuit not as competitors, but as friends and colleagues united in remembrance.
For Gasly, the tribute remains deeply personal. Hubert was more than a fellow racer—he was a lifelong friend whose memory continues to inspire those who knew him. Each year, the gathering serves as a reminder that while racing is a sport defined by speed and risk, it is also a community bound together by friendship, respect, and shared experiences.
This year’s tribute also honored Dilano van ’t Hoff, the talented young Dutch driver who lost his life following a Formula Regional accident at Spa-Francorchamps in 2023. The inclusion of both drivers underscored the enduring impact they had on the racing world and the importance of remembering those whose lives were cut tragically short.
